KitchenAid Ultra Power Vs Artisan – Check Why Artisan Is Best!

KitchenAid is a brand that has been around since the early 20th century, and is still going strong today. The company has been producing quality kitchen appliances to help everyone achieve impeccable culinary results. The KitchenAid Ultra Power stand mixer is an example of what KitchenAid puts out with their models: powerful, efficient machines that are capable of doing an array of tasks – some better than others. The Ultra Power stand mixer has been a best seller for years, and with its impressive sales numbers, it is definitely living up to its name.

A kitchen without a stand mixer is like a bakery without a mixer – it’s just not right. With the Ultra Power comes the new Artisan Series of mixers from KitchenAid. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this model so special, and see if it’s worth your money.

Design & Aesthetics

First of all, the KitchenAid Ultra Power comes in two color choices: white or onyx black. The onyx black will set you back a bit more than the white, but will go with any kitchen. The newest Artisan model comes in only one color: ceramic red. This may be a good choice if you have a very contemporary kitchen and want your mixer to complement that in some way. The downside here is that ceramic red also comes with quite a price tag as well – so it may not be worth it for some people.

Both the Artisan model and the Ultra Power come with a brushed stainless steel finish. This is a very attractive look, and will match most kitchens without causing it to look “busy” or “cluttered.” The handle of the stand mixer comes in white (the other color), and is a bit more narrow. This is due to the fact that it has to have as much power packed into it as possible – even though it’s smaller than most stand mixers. I like this design choice, because it keeps the unit from looking overwhelming on your countertop.

The new Artisan Series features four models: Artisan, Classic Plus, Classic and Classic Plus with Die Cast Housing; giving users plenty of options to choose from. The Artisan is the base model, and it comes with a 3.5 quart stainless steel bowl, a tilt-back head for easy access to the bowl, 5 speeds and Pulse Control; 8″ mixing paddle and dough hook; pouring shield; flat beater, dough hook and wire whip. If you are looking for an ultra powerful mixer that has quality and durability written all over it, definitely check out the KitchenAid Stand Mixers.

On the other hand, Artisan may not be as high-tech sounding, but it definitely makes up for anything that it lacks in the technology department. This model is the product of two decades worth of research, and is definitely a kitchen tool that you can rely on to do the job right. So, which one will give you better results?

Comparing The Major Features

Since they both belong to the KitchenAid brand, they are sure to have a lot in common with each other. For instance, they both have 325 watts of power behind their motors. This allows them to be able to handle the toughest jobs in the kitchen with ease.

They also both have a number of different attachments that come with them, allowing you to get the most use out of a stand mixer. You can mix, whip, knead and scrape with both of these relatively basic stand mixers. On top of this, they are both easy to assemble in the kitchen and come with their own recipe books for you to use as well.

If you’re looking for more specifics in what makes these two models different from one another there’s where things start to get murky. KitchenAid Ultra Power has many more power settings than Artisan – this is probably the single biggest difference between the two models. KitchenAid Ultra Power has twenty different power settings and Artisan has six.

This is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a model that can do a variety of different things, rather than sticking with a single task. But, if you’re looking for the ultimate Artisan, then the KitchenAid Ultra Power mixer may not be the right choice for you.

Does KitchenAid Ultra Power Have Enough Power

Most people who have concerns about not having enough power behind their stand mixer are actually dealing with an inferior model. Truly high-quality machines such as these don’t have any issues whatsoever when it comes to power output.

However, if you still want to make sure that you’re getting the perfect model for your needs then it is worth checking out KitchenAid Ultra Power’s power settings. The high-tech gadgetry behind this model allows users to choose from twenty different power settings so that they can make sure they’re getting the most out of their time in the kitchen.

If you have a heavy dough or batter, then you’re going to need all of that power right away. There’s nothing worse than a bowl filled with thick dough or batter and turning on your stand mixer only to find out that it doesn’t have enough power behind it because you didn’t get the highest quality machine possible. This won’t be the case with KitchenAid Ultra Power as it provides all of the power you could need, and more.

All in all, the KitchenAid Ultra Power stand mixer is a high-tech device that comes with twenty different power settings. So, if you’re looking for a model with high tech features and powerful motors then this model is definitely for you. Since it’s made by the KitchenAid brand it will also do any task that you throw at it without any hesitation.

Does Artisan Have More Adjustable Speeds

On top of having more power settings than Kitchenaid Ultra Power, Artisan also has more timing controls than its competitor. So, what does this mean for you? Well, if you’re looking for a model that is going to make the dough rise quickly or whip up your favorite baked goods quickly, then the Artisan will definitely do better than the Kitchenaid.

Just in case you were hoping that you were going to have more control over the speed at which your stand mixer was doing it’s job, then Artisan may not be the model for you. The reason this is true is that Artisan has only six timing controls; KitchenAid has twenty. So if you’re looking for more control over how fast your mixer works then this model may not be right for you.

The question is, how much control are you looking for? If you’re looking for a model that will allow you to adjust the speed at which your mixer works then this one definitely won’t cut it. On top of being limited to six speeds, Artisan cannot be programmed with different speeds. So even if you’re looking for some more customization in your model this one will not do as well as KitchenAid Ultra Power.

All in all, if you want to make sure that you’re getting a stand mixer that can handle whatever recipe or job you throw at it then the KitchenAid Artisan mixer may be a good choice for you. This is especially true if you’re preparing for a large gathering, as it can whip up batches of food much quicker than other models out there. But if you want to be able to customize how your mixer works then KitchenAid Ultra Power may be the way to go.

Who Wins This Battle

Overall, both of these stand mixers are worth purchasing and have their own benefits. In all honesty, it may come down to which model fits your needs a bit better. If you’re looking for a machine that has excellent speed controls and twenty different power settings, then KitchenAid Ultra Power is definitely the right choice for you. If you’re looking for something that only has six power settings, but includes a powerful motor, then I would go for the KitchenAid Artisan.

Overall both of these machines are fantastic choices and will provide you with quality results every time you use them. So, as long as you find the features that best fit your needs, then stick with either model it really doesn’t matter too much which one is better. It’s important to remember that if you do want more customization in your stand mixer that the Artisan might not be the right choice for you. However, if speed control is what matters most to you then I would recommend going with the Kitchenaid Ultra Power model over the Artisan.

Which One Is Better

These two models are vastly different and no matter which one you end up getting, you will not be disappointed. So, once again, if you’re looking for a quality machine that can handle whatever job it is that you will be throwing its way then go with the KitchenAid Artisan mixer. If you’re looking for something that can do multiple different tasks in the kitchen then the KitchenAid Ultra Power is definitely the right choice for you.

Is a 325-watt mixer good?

I have used this mixer for a year now, and I love it. It’s heavy duty motor and 325-watt motor speed is great. I make a lot of pizza dough, buns, cookies and muffins so I wanted a stand mixer that could handle the job. I also wanted something that would last me for years to come as I just do not want to deal with broken beaters, belts or motors etc. If you aren’t planning to bake on a daily basis then these types of mixers are probably not what you are looking for. But if so, then if you’re planning to do serious baking then this is the one for you.

How does it compare with other stand mixers? To say it’s better is an understatement. I will list my comparison points so you can make your decision.

Pros and Cons

1) More lower speeds than ANY other mixer you can buy. If you are baking, cooking or whatever then this is GREAT because it has a MIXING SPEED, which is different from the rest of the mixers. For example, when I do my 10-lb batch of pizza dough and don’t want to waste energy, I turn the dial all the way down to 1 and that’s more than enough power to mix the dough but only takes a few minutes.

2) If you are doing the small batches of cookies, refrigerated-cookies etc. Then you can turn the mixing speed all the way down to 1 (the mixing speed) and use the HAND WHIPPER for good measure. You can’t do that on any other stand mixer. So, this just saves you time in that sense because it does not take any longer to mix because it is at a lower setting.

3) It has up to 20 speeds so there is no limit on what food you want to create (chocolate mousse anyone?).

4) On this model, Kitchen Aid made some adjustments to the design so it looks way better than the giant Kitchen Aid Artisan. It has a slimmer profile, but still larger than the average stand mixer.

5) It has an extra knob that says “LO” which is great for keeping the machine at a slower speed. This will come in handy if you’re using small batches of ingredients or something like that. So, you could use this on low or high; however I would personally use it on low because I feel you don’t need that much power when mixing smaller batches. But hey it’s there if you want it (I’ve done cookies by hand and they are rough when doing multiple batches).

What is a good wattage for a KitchenAid mixer?

The maximum wattage for a stand mixer is 1000 watts. If you are only doing baking or cooking occasionally then an 800-watt mixer will do just fine. However, if you plan to do a lot of baking and cooking then you should get one that has the capability to handle everything you throw at it.

What is the best wattage for a stand mixer?

Just like with all appliances, there are always multiple items out there with different watts. What this means is there are different machines out there that have varying power like KitchenAid Classic Plus and KitchenAid Heavy Duty stand mixers. These can have between 200 and 325 watts (or even more).

Why are KitchenAid mixers only 300W?

The KitchenAid Mixer is rated at 300 watts, yes. But you will notice the model numbers are higher than the wattage rating. The reason they use high power numbers instead of the actual wattage is to help people compare them more easily.

For example, let’s say you want a bread machine rather than a stand mixer. Many bread machines have 300 watts; so you might be torn between a few different machines with this wattage rating. However, using power ratings other than strict wattages can really help you differentiate between those items and see which one is best for you.

What is the difference between KitchenAid ksm160 and ksm177?

This model is an older model that came out when the newer models were already out. The new models had more bells and whistles, but the downside was that they were more expensive. So this model was made and sold so those people who wanted a stand mixer but could not afford the price of the newer models could still get one without losing all the features they wanted. I would HIGHLY recommend you go with one that has up to 325 WATTS (the maximum), even though models like this will be cheaper than ones with greater capacities.

CONCLUSION:

Choosing a Stand Mixer; If you’re a baker, cooking expert or even just starting out in the kitchen then any of the three machines that I’ve listed here will be a really good choice for you. The beauty of having such great options is that you can choose the best machine for your kitchen and your needs based on what you will use it for. However, if you know for sure that making bread or baking cookies is going to be something that you do on a regular basis then I personally would recommend going with one of the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixers instead.
