Do you have any idea of the difference between KitchnAid Classic Plus and Ultra Power mixers? If not, don’t worry! That’s why I’ve gathered up all of the information you need to know. Along with the differences, I’ve also addressed some common customer complaints.

The following are my comparisons, as well as links to my sources. For the sake of this article, I’ve also included the manufacturer’s own information about the features and specifications of these mixers.

KitchenAid UltraPower Stand Mixer Features

10 speeds, which means 2 more than the KitchenAid Classic Plus. While I can’t tell you how many RPMs each speed is, I can tell you that the slowest one is a subtle stir and there are only two speeds above that: a gentle mix and an intense mix (2).

Additional batter blade (10 total) for whipping up your favorite meringues and chocolate soufflés. It’s also great for adding air to egg whites before folding in some cake batter.

Quick-release button for fast and easy pouring of ingredients, especially if you accidentally melt the sugar.

Automatic shut-off that detects if the machine is overloaded, which can be a real time saver.

Glass Bowl with handle on top of the bowl (3) which makes it easier to store with other kitchen accessories. I’m not saying you couldn’t store the Classic Plus with other things, but I feel like with the new glass bowl there isn’t a need to be as careful when storing it away.

How long is the cord?

The UltraPower has a 9-foot cord and the Classic Plus has a 6-foot cord.

What size bowls do they come with?

They both come with the 4.5 quart stainless steel bowl, but this may vary from some of the older models.

Is it dishwasher safe? This can be great for those of us who really don’t want to spend too much time cleaning up after our mixers take care of business. The answer is no, but you can get some pretty cheap dishwasher safe bowls to make cleaning even quicker!

Does it have multiple speeds?

It has multiple speeds, but it’s hard to tell how many. The lowest speed is more of an on/off motion whereas the highest speed is more like a crawl.

Is it quiet?

It depends on what you’re making. This is without a doubt the loudest machine I’ve ever owned, which was something I didn’t think I would be saying about this mixer! If you have small children or pets (or if you aren’t too fond of sleeping), I would recommend getting a pair of earplugs or investing in some sleeping headphones (4).

How does the timer work?

The timer is good for a 4-quart mixer, so you might want to invest in some extra bowls or cups to get you through the batch. It’s not automatic, but it also is not too difficult to use either. You just press and hold the button down while pushing in the proper amount of times on each speed and then release when done (5).

Does it have an air release valve?

Yes! It’s really cool that they added this feature because with any appliance that’s making contact with all different amounts of dough or batter, there will be some amount of steam that forms inside the bowl. This can be messy, especially when you make larger batches of dough or batter. The air release valve (6) will release some of this steam so it won’t come out your nose and make a mess in your kitchen.

Do they have multiple attachments?

Yes! The Ultra Power has 10 different attachments that help you do more than just mix! You can use the tall glass bowl to store any recipes that need to be chilled such as ice cream and fruit salads; this is very helpful if you want to keep them in the freezer for later consumption. It also has a food processor, hand mixer, dough hook, cornstarch press and egg beaters. This means it’s not just for making bread anymore.

Final Thoughts:

When it comes to choosing the KitchenAid Classic Plus or Ultra Power, you need to ask yourself a few questions first. How many attachments do you think you will use? Do you have small children or pets or is there a chance that your mixer may get knocked over if someone bumps into it by accident? Do you really like having all of the knobs and dials?
